White Model Poses As An African Queen In New Fashion Editorial!

Ok gals and boys if the boy are reading ofcourse!Lol! I just needed to blog this story! WHAT? just messing..but seriously what is this fashion industry and their so called photographers, editors etc all about?I cannot seem to understand why you title an editorial piece 'African Queen' and then turn a white girl white, I cannot quite make it all out!Its just plain hard and difficult for me personally to understand...Ok my rant is over lets get down to the story!

A french Magazine 'Numero' caused outrage after it snagged sixteen-year-old Caucasian model Ondria Hardin to pose for the feature in black face.  Read excerpts below. Right! personally for me,this looks like a decision made by someone who thinks they are really creative when infact they are dead in the head!Cause the title of this spread and the idea or whatever it is they are tryna achieve just does not correlate.I might have to paint my dark skinned models white or pour some creamy loking paint over them so I dont have to bother hiring some white models...sickening! Read and see pics! What do you reckon?

According to the Huffington Post:
The young lady in the spread is 16-year-old, blond-haired, blue-eyed Ondria Hardin, who is seen with her skin darkened and striking a pose for the French glossy. To start, we know there are plenty of white people living in Africa — but Ondria is from North Carolina and we’re pretty sure white people in Africa don’t walk around in what could be considered a light application of blackface.
With that said, the editorial serves as another sad example of how the fashion industry continually ignores or exploits ethnic diversity rather than celebrating it. And to think how easy it would have been for Numéro to select one of the countless beautiful black models (see slideshow below) and avoid this justifiable backlash and contribution to an unrelenting problem.
An editor at Jezebel (who is a Caucasian woman) adds:
It’s impossible to look at this and not ache for young women of color who want to pursue careers in modeling (and arguably, fashion by extension). When they don’t see themselves on the runway or in magazines, it could be very easy for them to think, “huh, I guess modeling isn’t for me.” Then the status quo remains, and the runways remain monotone. If jobs for “African Queen” photo spreads aren’t going to black women, what hope is there?

Below is what the photographer says:

Poor dude!lol! he right though..that title 'African Queen' is rather unfortunate. I just think this Numero or whatever they call their magazine is just seeking attention...which of course they have got cause errm we all talking about it, albeit to me a negative attention......!

Update: The photographer of the shoot, Sebastian Kim, responded to the backlash with a statement:
I would like to apologize for any misunderstanding around my recent photos for Numero France. It was never my intention (nor Numero’s) to portray a black woman in this story. Our idea and concept for this fashion shoot was based on 60′s characters of Talitha Getty, Verushka and Marissa Berenson with middle eastern and Moroccan fashion inspiration. We at no point attempted to portray an African women by painting her skin black. We wanted a tanned and golden skin to be showcased as part of the beauty aesthetic of this shoot.
It saddens me that people would interpret this as a mockery of race. I believe that the very unfortunate title “African Queen” (which I was not aware of prior to publication) did a lot to further people’s misconceptions about these images. It was certainly never my intention to mock or offend anyone and I wholeheartedly apologize to anyone who was offended.

Show Report: Alberta Ferretti Autumn/Winter 2013/14

As the New york and London fashion week has drawn to a close, I will be putting up a few show reports, style inspiration and tips on what to wear or look out for Spring/Summer! I cannot wait for some sunshine like seriously! For those in the hotter climate like my beautiful country Nigeria, you can so style yourself silly any which way (pardon my language but you get it!). Any ways was flipping through some designer's runway show and Alberta Ferretti's collection def struck a cord, I really love the use of Velveteen fabric with the embroideries, the long skirts (those are definitely so this season) and also the peplums heavily sequined jackets, and laces....These are all so this season and I Love, love this collection. I have always wondered how to work a velveteen fabric and this just shows what can be done to this amazing fabric. Also this Velveteen reminds me of my high school days in Nigeria, there was a period this fabric was the business! Like major! then it was called 'Akwaoche' for the Nigerian readers that can relate!Lol! Its soo great to see it being transformed amazingly well on runways. Be inspired!pics below.

Baddie Bey covers Vogue US March 2013

Lately as we may well know, baddie Bey (beyonce) has been very open about her life! We all know how private this chick's always been, I find it cool that she's opening up a lil bit and more so shutting her haters and critics the hell up! Bey has finally...Wooser. .. Openly let us see Blue Ivy Carter, I think B.I is cute..she gat a lot of Jayz ishhhh going on though, I wan see more baddie bey face  which I think will come as grows. Anyways, the March edition of Vogue features Beyonce! On this issue of vogue, I love the black and white Givenchy spring 2013 look. This spring/summer is all about black and white and orange...these colours are totally rocking the runways lately so grab ur self something in these colours..jumpsuits, tops, trousers, skirt make sure you bag a pair for Spring/Summer 2013!

The rest of Beyonce’s editorial, which was shot by Patrick Demarchelier, sees her wearing a stunning red organza Alexander McQueen strapless gown, a Marni top with Haider Ackermann pants, a red Oscar de la Renta ruffled gown, a three-piece Rochas floral look, a ruffled-collar Marc Jacobs top and many more.
Before she embarks on a new world tour, The Mrs Carter Show, she talked to Vogue about life as a mum, her new album and how her HBO documentary helped her feel ‘free’.
In addition to her upcoming HBO documentary, ‘Life is But a Dream’, which airs on HBO on Saturday, the singer is set to reveal even more about her personal life when she sits down for the Sunday, February 16 episode of ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ on OWN.
Here are some extracts from her interview.
On becoming a mom: “I felt very maternal around eight months. And I thought I couldn’t become any more until I saw the baby. . . But it happened during my labor because I had a very strong connection with my child. I felt like when I was having contractions, I envisioned my child pushing through a very heavy door. And I imagined this tiny infant doing all the work, so I couldn’t think about my own pain. . . We were talking. I know it sounds crazy, but I felt a communication. . . My family and my closest people were there when I gave birth. Everything that scared me just was not present in that room. So for me to really let go and really appreciate every contraction . . . it was the best day of my life.”
On having more kids: “When I was younger, there were moments where I said, ‘I’m not going to have children.’ And then moments when I wanted four. And now I definitely want another, but I don’t know when.”
On giving Blue a normal childhood: “At some point it’s very important to me that my daughter is able to experience life and run through the sprinklers and have slumber parties and trust and live and do all the things that any child should be able to do. . . School visits and lemonade stands and all that stuff. It’s very important for me.”
On her new family life: “I feel like I have something that has grounded me so much more. Family has always been important. I’ve always had my mother and my father and my husband. But it’s just… Life is so much more than… It’s not defined by any of this.”
On splitting with her father as her business manager: “My soul has been tarnished… My father taught me so much about being a businesswoman. And I’m understanding him a lot now… A lot of the crazy things he did were necessary.”
Gwyneth Paltrow on her gal pal: “When she is working onstage, she has more power than any woman I’ve ever seen. She would never say it and has never said it, but I feel she knows with every fiber of her being that she is the best in the world at her job.”
Can't wait to grab my copy....Pics below....Enjoy xoxo

Draya Michele of ' The Basket ball's wives' LA celebrated her birthday last month and wore this icandy couture dress. To be perfectly honest, when I first saw the picture of the dress, I fell in love. I love the detailing on the dress in itself, totally beautiful.
